What is Marquetry?
MARQUETRY (English) or MARQUETERIE (French) : PAINTING WITH WOOD
Marqueterie is an art dating back centuries. It is found in many different civilizations.
Wood veneer, shells & precious stones are artfully assembled to form decorative patterns & designs.
Using our original designs, we select various wood species for their character & color.
The veneers are cut, engraved, assembled & mounted to a substrate using a powerful press.
Hand-finishing includes multiple sandings and meticulous application of several layers of a natural sealant
using a process derived from a centuries old French lacquer technique.
This hand-finishing process brings out the color & unique personality of each wood.
The final piece is then protected with UV & water resistant coating
& framed with solid wood frame.
